PESHAWAR: The government and security forces are waging a jihad against those bent upon destroying the social fabric and culture of the NWFP and 98 per cent people are supporting the operation against militants, Senator Muhammad Adeel said here Tuesday.
“It is the time for all segments of the society, including writers, poets and intellectuals, to extend all-out support to the government and security forces in the operation,” he said while speaking as chief guest at the launching ceremony of Pashto translation of a book of mystic Hindko poet Sain Ahmad Ali.
Senator Adeel, who is senior vice president of the Awami National Party (ANP), claimed that 98 per cent people were supporting the operation but only two per cent from some religious parties were opposing it that was astonishing. “If the way of militancy is not blocked and these elements not rooted out right now, nobody would be safe even in the provincial capital,” he added.
